I’ve got to start today’s entry by saying; yesterday (and so far today!) Lloris has been a dream. I don’t say that often enough; mainly because he gives me no reason too! so thought I should give credit where credit is due as they say!
He has therefore been awarded a gold star on his behaviour chart. If he gets to 5 he can have another visit to the pub for a sausage.
Who wouldn’t want to come home to be greeted by a dinosaur and a donkey?
He’s so very adorable! I’m biased I know
My latest worry to explore is the healing of his spine.
Following surgery his spine is still protruding out and has a bulge of fluid around it. This has not changed at all since his surgery and whilst it doesn’t appear to be bothering him or causing him any discomfort at this stage, I do believe at week 5 post op the fluid at least should have now dispersed.

I’m not sure about the hunch on the spine and if it is to stay like this and what affect that may have on his walking.
My first port of call is to ask the IVDD support group on Facebook.

The feedback from this group have at least told me that the fluid lump is called a Seroma.
Some say the Seroma is nothing to worry about and will eventually go down. Others are saying it happens but it’s not normal to still be here and can cause issues.
So that’s not overly helped me.
At least now knowing what it’s called I can trawl through the internet again for some further advice - so thank you Facebookers!
This is what I find:

Taking the above advice I shall now apply heat to it regularly and see if this has any impact.
As for his spine protruding it would seem that may go down a little but will not look how it did prior to surgery. So I guess his new posture is just something to get used to.
We went for a walk along the hard pavement today. I’ve mainly been sticking to soft grounds for walks but I wanted to see how he places his weaker right paw on the rough terrain now he seems to have stopped scuffing it.
We have returned without any scuffed or bloody paws, but I wouldn’t say it’s because he’s particularly placing his paw better (I’m sure I’m being unfair here and no doubt he is) but it looked more like at times he was lifting the foot up altogether and walking like a three legged dog!
I could never quite catch that on film, everytime I pointed the camera at him he was giving me an almost perfect strut! Playing to the cameras!
PS: accident free day and he is pretty much there with his stopping and crouching to poop although he did fall over into it at one point today and did a complete roly-poly. Rather clever I thought! He was due a bath anyway!

Bath time-So cute He’s well on the way to being his old self! He’s a king 👑
