Oh dear…

I wake up this morning with such high hopes for the week and easing Lloris back into physio all starting today!, but would appear my well laid plans are about to get tossed up in air!

Rewinding a little; my lovely Volvo XC60 with a perfect size boot for Lloris to stretch out in, has been suffering a little of late with the rather strong aroma of dog… more specifically dirty, stinky, pee-ridden dog.

To say it’s a full on embarrassment is an understatement. If someone would have asked me for a lift I would have lied through my teeth to prevent that from happening!

It’s got into such a state as Lloris is literally in it everyday. We now have to drive to the park for our walks rather than walk there. Then his muddy, pee & poop stained body gets back in the car following the walk!

I have been waiting for his ‘leg cocking’ to return so he stops peeing all over himself then the car was going to get a good cleaning overhaul! Honest it was, that was/is my plan!

Lloris all comfy in the boot about a week or so ago with his cousin Beau

So when the car appears to have completely died on me this morning with no life in it whatsoever, (luckily whilst sat on my driveway!) it is with complete and total embarrassment when the Volvo technician arrives and spends hours in my car breathing in the said aroma.

Oh dear; he will surely be thinking, she’s a filthy B*tch!

The embarrassment has only gotten worse when I see him manage to get the boot open and he proceeds to empty everything out of it… including the screwed up nappies … I’m sure he’s not thinking they are dog nappies, he probably thinks I’ve been tossing dirty child nappies in the back! (I have been using dog nappies to wrap around his poorly weeping leg whilst in transit so he doesn’t lick it!, they aren’t pee ‘soiled’ ones!- honest!)

I am in no way surprised when he turns down an offer of a bacon roll?! I’m not sure I would accept food cooked by such a filthy car owner either!

Back to Lloris! …

In short it has meant my morning has been monopolised with sorting a courtesy car whilst my own filth bag car gets carted off to the garage… so no big park walk this morning, no physio exercises and instead he has a day at home chilling out with his Nan. You’d think he’d be loving some ‘lazy time’?!?!

Of course not, this is my demanding DIVA Lloris!

After us having had such a lovely weekend together with our trips to the park where he played a little football and made a new puppy friend and a house full of guests to fuss him yesterday … he is somewhat of a whining ‘Grizzle Pig’ today at home bored with Nanny.

Physio re-start now delayed until tomorrow. Instead I just have a little sulker boy on my hands…

This eve I am hit with a stuffed pig upon entering the front door which seems to have cheered him up- I love it when he’s all happy to see me!

A day in the office with me tomorrow but how am I going to take him in this spotlessly clean hire car without destroying it like my Volvo!!??

I have a few ideas!!! Will test them out tomorrow.

THANK YOU’s

Whilst it goes without saying that a big chunk of credit for Lloris’s rehabilitation to being a walking puppy dog again goes unquestionably to him! There have been many helping hands along the way that are more than deserving of a mention …

Thank you to;

Davies Vet (Johnny & Alex) for their remarkable surgery, prompt action and after care. He came home a calm and happy dog…even if his legs weren’t working…his wound has healed remarkably well without scaring.

To Dr Rinnert van den Bergh - The Holistic Vet who never raised an eyebrow at his little accidents and always progressed him further after every treatment.  Lloris is especially grateful for the liver paste you would win him over with!

To Nisha from Paws & Hooves - Hydrotherapy.  You have been remarkable in your patience with Lloris. Thank you for answering the phone when many others didn’t that day.  Finding you was meant to be.

To Willow Vets in Newport Pagnell who took Lloris on as a new case for his cancer straight away and operated within two days. The entire team of staff have been nothing but kind and professional and whilst Lloris will continue to hate you all (hate may be a bit of strong word…. But I’m not so sure?!) I on the other hand think you are all amazing.

To his Uncle Cristian for building his ‘Frenchie Bouncer’ was a big game changer in our rehab!

To his Grandad for building his Pig Pen which he has grown to love

To his Nanny for his the daily love and company not to mention the endless cleaning of him and my house!  We truly couldn’t have got through this without you, you gave me the break I needed to keep my sanity.

To Matt the Chippy for his back door ramp!

To the IVDD Facebook support group.  I learned so much from you. https://www.facebook.com/groups/178483559398659/?ref=share

To my friends and family who reached out to help me. Everyone of you that messaged, read our blog and paid an interest in both his and my well being made such a difference on both the dark days and the light.   Lloris loves people so the visits and gifts all lifted his spirits and snapped him out of the sulks!

To Dan, Lloris’s dad. You stepped up when he needed you the most and answered our cry for help to get him to the hospital that day.  It will always be a shame we couldn’t stay the family unit we had wanted for him. We certainly tried!  Thank you for letting him live with me, I can’t imagine the heartache of giving him up.

To the friend in my life that gave me focus from day 1 when I asked for help bringing him home … he said something like  “I have the dentist so can’t help you that day, I would if I could but … you’re going to have to get used to handling him and lugging him about on your own, so you may as well just get on with it now”. I thought he was being an unhelpful arse at the time but actually that was the best piece of advice I could have been given. Man up and get on with it.  You can’t turn back time or change anything. You are where you are, so take a deep breath and in the words of Nike - Just do it.

And that we did!
